It was sad to say goodbye to France - a country I love. After three nights in Vouvray, I travelled the four hours or so to a rather nice campsite overlooking the beach near Cherbourg. The weather continued to be a little chilly but I occupied myself with a cycle to the nearby lighthouse and visited couple of villages, popping into the local churches when I could.

On my departure day I drove the coast road, visiting a World War II museum, ending up at Utah Beach. Not surprisingly it was relatively busy. Lunching looking over the beach thinking of the time 80 years ago when the place would have been a scene of death and destruction. It was a sombre moment.

The ferry journey back was very smooth. For the final hour or so, along with a number of other passengers, I was captivated with the sunset over the Purbecks. I don't ever get bored of the beauty of a sunset and the warm glow as the day comes to an end. I'm sure that there are plenty, though who do get bored of very similar looking photos - so just a few below! Whilst it was a slow journey into Poole harbour, guided by a pilot, it was a wonderful return. It was good to be home - and only a short drive from Poole docks. A few photos below of those last couple of days.
